Nolan,

Your baserunning technique shows promise, but there are some key areas where you can make improvements to enhance your speed and efficiency on the basepaths. One of the primary focuses should be on your arm movement while running. By incorporating bigger arm swings, you'll create more momentum and drive your body forward more effectively. This increased arm action will help you generate more power with each stride, ultimately leading to faster sprint times between bases.

Another crucial aspect to work on is your leg lift and knee drive. By consciously focusing on picking your toes up and raising your knees higher during your running motion, you'll develop better balance and create a more explosive stride. This improved form will not only increase your overall speed but also help you maintain your balance when making quick turns or adjustments on the basepaths. Remember, good baserunning is not just about raw speed, but also about control and the ability to change direction quickly.

To practice these techniques, try incorporating specific drills into your training routine. Start with high knee exercises to get comfortable with the feeling of lifting your legs higher. Then, progress to short sprints where you focus on exaggerating your arm swings and knee lifts. As you become more comfortable with these movements, gradually increase your sprint distance and speed. With consistent practice and attention to these details, you'll likely see a noticeable improvement in your baserunning speed and overall effectiveness on the bases. Keep up the good work, Nolan!

Hitting - Mechanics:

Nolan, your swing shows promise, but there are some key areas we can focus on to enhance your performance at the plate. The most significant aspect we need to address is your body control throughout your swing. By improving this, you'll see a noticeable difference in your ability to make consistent, solid contact with the ball.

One of the primary elements to work on is keeping your head more still during your entire swing. This stability is crucial as it allows you to track the pitch more effectively and maintain better eye-hand coordination. Try practicing your swing in front of a mirror, focusing on keeping your head steady from the moment you begin your swing until after you've made contact with the ball. This will help you see the ball better and increase your chances of making solid contact.

Another important aspect to concentrate on is holding your finish at the end of your swing for a count of "two Mississippi." This seemingly small adjustment can have a big impact on your hitting. By holding your finish, you're allowing yourself to stay in the hitting zone longer, which increases your chances of making better contact with the ball. This follow-through also promotes better balance and can help you develop more power in your swing over time. Practice this finish in your dry swings and batting practice sessions, focusing on maintaining your posture and balance throughout the entire swing, including the follow-through.

At The Players Way, our mission is simple—athlete development comes first. Every score here is a reflection of where you are in your journey, not just what you’ve done, but how you’re progressing.

These evaluations are built on a clear methodology: skill introduction, understanding, execution, and mastery. Your scores help us—and you—identify strengths, target growth areas, and unlock your full potential.

Keep pushing.
