Your footwork shows promise, but refining it—particularly on backhand plays—will make a significant difference in your overall fielding ability. Focus on maintaining active, deliberate footwork that positions you to approach each ground ball with purpose and control.
When working on your backhand, make sure you’re staying low and balanced as you move toward the ball. Smooth, efficient footwork will help you position your glove properly and work through the ball rather than stopping your momentum. By staying low and fluid, you’ll improve both your ability to secure the ball and your transition into the throw.
Working through the ball should be a major focus for all aspects of your fielding. Allow your feet and body to continue moving in the direction of your throw as you field, creating a seamless transition and reducing wasted motion. Incorporate drills that emphasize backhand footwork and moving through the ball, such as rolling grounders from different angles and requiring you to make a quick, accurate throw afterward.
With these adjustments, you’ll become a more confident and reliable fielder. Keep working hard, and you’ll see great progress!

You have a great swing overall, showing strong mechanics and a solid foundation. One area to work on is refining your load. At times, your load starts to leak early, causing your hands to drift toward the ball before you truly fire. This early movement can disrupt your timing and reduce the efficiency of your swing.
Focus on keeping your load compact and controlled, ensuring that your hands stay back until your body begins to move forward into the swing. A deliberate, well-timed load will help you generate more power and improve your ability to adjust to different pitches.
At contact, there’s a tendency to spin off the ball, which can pull your bat out of the hitting zone too quickly. Work on staying through the ball at contact, driving your hands toward centerfield and keeping your bat path extended. Avoid letting your shoulders take over during this phase of the swing, as it can cause you to roll over or lose control.
Incorporate drills that emphasize staying back during the load and driving through the ball, such as tee drills focused on hitting up the middle or slow-motion swings to reinforce proper sequencing. With these adjustments, your already great swing will become even more consistent and effective. Keep up the hard work—you’re making excellent progress!
