Players Way 6th Tool Tournaments
You Want to See Your Player reach their full potential on and off the field. Yet, too often, youth tournaments focus only on the destination and not the process. Players may leave with rings, but rarely with the tools needed to grow their game
Chris Iannetta, a 14-year MLB veteran, “In order to reach your full potential as a ballplayer, you have to be purposeful and committed to the details. It is literally what we do at the Major League level EVERYDAY!”
That's why we created the Players Way “6th Tool” Tournament; a new kind of competitive baseball experience that rewards smart decisions and game awareness along with your individual, and team, statistics. Here, athletes are coached in real time and evaluated on execution. Regardless of level, it is this commitment to the details that will positively affect each athlete’s development long after the tournament ends.
What Makes The "6th Tool" Different?
✅ Development Over Dominance
Every game becomes a learning opportunity. Players and teams are scored through a unique point system that rewards and reinforces smart situational baseball – executing pitch sequences, taking quality at-bats, winning the inning and so much more. It all matters.
✅ Real-Time Coaching, Real Growth
Coaches will receive two Players Way Timeouts — Intentional teaching moments used to address missed opportunities or highlight great decisions. These timely lessons help players connect the why behind the what, fueling growth that lasts beyond the game.
Structure
Each Team is guaranteed 4 games, with points accumulated during each game.
The team with the highest total points across all games will be declared the winner.
Top individual performers in each age group will be recognized on the 6th Tool Leaderboard based on their overall point totals.
Awards
The Team Champion Per Age Group will be based on Total Points awarded over the 4 games played.
One Athlete per age group will be recognized as the 6th Tool top performer based on their overall point totals.
Technology & Engagement
The Players Way app is a central tool for tracking player development. Each team will be sent a link post registration to sign up for a FREE team and player account with Players Way. Each athlete receives a secure player profile where they and their parents can upload up to 10 videos from the 6th Tool Tournament. These videos are a max of 60 seconds long and can be taken while at the plate, pitching or playing defense. This is a great way for the athletes to see their videos post event as well as the ability to have conversations with their coach about execution, fundamentals and development.

Withdrawal, Cancellation & Refund Procedures for Players Way
WHEN A BASEBALL TEAM WITHDRAWS PRIOR TO A WEEKEND EVENT Player Way understands that unforeseen circumstances, especially injuries, roster defections, player availability, etc., can occur throughout a season. Teams should also plan for the unexpected and understand that the scheduling process starts weeks and sometimes months before an event is scheduled.
A full refund shall be given if a team withdraws on or before the 21 day prior to the tournament. A 50% refund shall be given if a team withdraws after the schedule is posted and a replacement team is found prior to 48 hours before the start of the event. No refund shall be given if a team withdraws after the schedule is posted and a replacement team is not found prior to 48 hours before the start of the event. No refund shall be given if a team withdraws within 48 hours before the event’s start, regardless of whether or not a replacement team is found. When this occurs, it is still the team’s obligation to notify the tournament director that they will not be participating.
REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS OR SHORTENING OF AN EVENT While Players Way will make every attempt to play each event, weather and other unforeseen circumstances may prevent an event from being completed or, in some cases, even starting. In those cases:
An 80% refund will be given to teams that do not start any game in an event. A 50% refund will be given to teams starting less than half of their scheduled games. No refund will be given to teams starting half or more of their scheduled games.
